The frame saver clips not only protect the framework of the cage but also make it easier to move the netting allowing for quick and easy access to your plants.
The fitted heavy duty 7mm butterfly netting, complete with neat stitched seams, sits inside the cage framework and is attached by the Harrod Frame Saver Clips. The clips simply hook through the netting mesh and connect to the top rods of the cage framework. The clips can then function like a curtain rail giving quick and easy access to the cage.
Under storm force winds and heavy snowfall the pressure against the netting causes the clips to detach from the framework. The netting then drops over the crops, so they remain protected, but the frame is no longer subjected to the forces that could cause the framework to buckle. See the Videos tab for a demonstration of the cage in action.
The framework itself comprises strong and corrosion resistant 16mm aluminium tubing, powder coated black, which is secured using our Award Winning Harrod Slot & Lock® Connectors. The cages have also been updated to include the Harrod Net Claw Pegs - an innovative peg which is inserted into the ground once and use the tension of the netting to hook and unhook the netting from the claw teeth, saves unpegging and any potential net damage.

Easy to assemble. Most difficult part was to get the ground holes made in the correct places. It only becomes apparent when reading the instructions with the product how difficult this will be and that you sell a tool to do this. Luckily, I managed to borrow a large, long drill bit which was just the right size. Takes a little time to unclip net from the ground pegs in order to push back for weeding etc, but as it is possible to water through the netting not necessary too often.
Easy to assemble framework and attach net. Found the net on the ground after a not particularly windy/wet night (May - definitely not snow!) and was concerned that it would keep falling down, but I think it was 'operator error' with some of the clips not attached properly - and maybe a pigeon landing. It hasn't happened again. Plenty of net clips but a bit fiddly to attach them to the net - eventually got the hang of it - a diagram in the instruction leaflet would have helped a lot and avoided the net dropping (and the loss of a couple of clips on the ground). Have pushed the net back once to weed, rake and plant and that was easy to do.
This product is so easy to use and not difficult to assemble. The only very minor problem is with large fruit bushes/vegetable crops, you just have to ensure the net is held high enough when you slide it over to stop it catching. Overall an excellent design.
