Designed and manufactured in the UK, CORE EDGE flexible steel lawn edging is the ideal way to create smart edges along garden borders, lawns, patios, pathways and driveways.
Thanks to its flexible structure, you can create bold straight runs or smooth sweeping curves, and even perfect 90 degree angles on corners. A secure connecting mechanism seamlessly joins individual sections, providing strength and stability.
The lawn edging is supplied in a pack of five 1075mm strips, which form a 5m run of edging when installed. Available in 3 heights, 65mm, 100mm and 150mm and made from steel 1.6mm thick (a thicker 2.5mm version is available in brown finish only). Available in 4 finishes - Brown, Black, Anthracite all powder coated and Weathered Steel (Corten) effect. The coloured edging is made from raw steel with a 20-micron galvanised zinc coating and 110-micron polyester AkzoNobel powder coated finish. The Weathered Steel has a unique rust like appearance which develops further when exposed to the elements. The rust forming a protective coat that slows future corrosion.

This high quality steel lawn edging is designed specifically for outdoor use, is hard wearing, durable and has a long lifespan. CORE EDGE lawn edging won’t rust or flake in the elements, and it will not shatter if caught with a strimmer or mower. While it provides a smart finish, there are no sharp edges, so it is safe to use in domestic gardens and public spaces.

If installing in particularly soft ground there are additional Extension Pins and Clips available in packs of 5 (see GDN-653 in drop down list). These include a clip to affix to the lawn edging and then the pin passes through the clip and can be hammered into the ground for greater stability.

FAQ's
What's the best way to form a curve with CORE EDGE?
To create a tight radius, it’s best to form the curve by bending each individual edge around a suitable cylindrical object such as a bucket full of soil or a rounded post. For a gentler curve you can either bend each edging slightly by hand and connect together as you go, or if you have more hands on site connect the required amount of edgings, making sure you securely fasten the dual locking tabs, then starting from one end form the curve by tapping the edgings into the ground as you go whilst the desired curve is formed and held in place by your workmates.
What’s the best way to measure a curved or complex shape?
Simply lay out a string line or rope to the desired shape, then lift it and measure its length. It’s always easier to mark the ground with a spray can or wooden stakes before lifting the rope to make sure your edging goes exactly as you first intended.
What’s the best way to install CORE EDGE in particularly soft ground?
The pre-formed spikes will tap easily into soft ground. Its best to place a piece of brick or a flat stone under the edging at intervals to avoid the edge cutting down into the ground if there is a possibility of weight being applied directly onto the edging. Alternatively back the edge up with a concrete haunching that sits slightly below the edging. If the edge is going to sit above ground for a raised border, it’s often useful to use our galvanised stabilising pins.
What’s the best way to install CORE EDGE in hard ground?
The spikes on CORE EDGE are quite tough and will tap into most firm ground with the aid of a wooden mallet or block of wood, but if the ground is really hard its best to loosen it first with a fork or pick axe. Firm the ground by treading the soil back against the edging on completion. If the edge is going to sit above ground for a raised border, it may be necessary to use our galvanised stabilising pins.
What’s the best way to cut CORE EDGE?
CORE EDGE can be easily cut using a hacksaw or grinder, please take care with sharp edges and use metal primer on exposed steel.
How long will CORE EDGE last?
CORE EDGE is made from 1.6mm mild steel with a 20 micron galvanised coating and a 90-110micron thick polyester powder coat. Under normal conditions it has a life expectancy of over 15 years.
Can I use heavy compaction machinery close to CORE EDGE?
Yes. But as with all edge restraints be sure to support the exposed edgings with temporary pegs or galvanised stabilising pins to avoid “bowing” caused by over compaction.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes – CORE EDGE comes with a 10 year guarantee.
Product Reviews
Very happy with this edging.
Having previously used wood for similar projects, but it soon degrades so this product is going to be far more robust and long lasting and provided an easier solution to curved edging.
It is high quality and strong and relatively easy to assemble.
It's heavy (wear gloves) and takes a bit of time to fit together and find your level in the ground but all relatively straight forward.
I've used it on a long straight border and a small area around a large willow tree trunk.
There's clear instructions about how to create a corner or bend and the overall look is excellent.
I chose the shorter height and found it absolutely right for my needs.
I've attached a photo of the trunk area.
