I'm going to be a Master Composter!

As you must be aware by now, I'm responsible for the one-third of an acre Harrod Horticultural Kitchen Garden - fed with our own compost - which of course is an absolutely invaluable resource for a horticultural mail order company.

As well as using the Kitchen Garden to test, evaluate and even develop new products, we're gardeners at heart so we prepare a yearly plan for growing and producing fruit and vegetables. This means we need a lot of compost, so I'm off on a 2-day course - the Master Composter Scheme - which has been jointly organised by the HDRA and Norfolk County Council.

It looks like I'll be taking part in the training scheduled for June, but I'm also on the shortlist for the March course should anyone drop out. Such has been the popularity of the scheme, an extra course has been added to accomodate all the interested would-be composters.

Rest assured you'll hear all about it here and on our Kitchen Garden section of our website and you can also find out more about Norfolk County Council's environmental policies - and you may even find a similiar scheme running in your area.
