Treating white fly on tomatoes

Dear Julian

I have 30 tomato plants and have a infestation of white fly first i used neem repel with no effect.  I have ordered two lots of parasitic wasp but have had to buy some bug clear for fruit and veg, which I used today. Firstly, is two lots of the wasps enough for this amount of plants and, secondly, once I get the wasps can I still spray the bug clear?

Thanks

Steve

Dear Steve

If the Bug clear spray is fatty acid based then you could continue to use until you introduce the Encarsia. If it isn't fatty acid based then give Savona a go. Once the Encarsia are introduced you can continue to use, only if you are spraying the heads of the tomato plants, as the Encarsia work lower down the plant. If the Bug clear contains a chemical insecticide ingredient, you will have to stop all sprays a.s.a.p, as the residues and vapour action could harm the Encarsia. Check the label of the Bug Clear for the ingredients.

Hope this helps.

Julian
