10 x Runner bean plants
10 x Dwarf French Green Bean plants
20 x Garden pea plants
20 x Mangetout peas
Beans
Beans are perfect for a sunny, well-drained spot. They prefer to grow in moist, fertile soil in a sheltered location away from strong winds, but can also be grown successfully in pots. Avoid growing beans in very wet soils.
Dwarf French Green Beans
Dwarf French Green Beans don’t like cold weather so if they arrive in late April / early May plant your bean plants into pots and allow them to grow indoors on a window sill or greenhouse. Plant them outside when the risk of frost risk has passed and the days are warmer.
Harvest your bean pods regularly, as soon as they look large enough. This will help to encourage the growth of more beans.Planting distance: approximately 20cm (8inches) apart
Runner Beans
Runner beans will grow very tall, so they will need some vertical supports.
If planting in rows each row should be 60cm (23in) apart
Peas
Plant your pea plants in good, fertile soil.
Use Support and pea netting to support your peas as they grow and water well during periods of hot dry weather.
Planting distance: 5-10cm apart in containers or raised beds.
Mangetout Peas
This old French variety produces large flat pods of extremely sweet flavour. These plants will produce sweet crisp mangetout peas that are so much more flavoursome than those that have been flown in from thousands of miles away to land on the supermarket shelves. Delicious eaten raw in salads
