CROP PROTECTION HOOPS - MINI GROWING GUIDE

Here are a few pointers to guide you through the process of deciding which hoops and size of netting you will require to create your own protected crop growing environment!

  SMALL HOOPS ( 19mm dia. x 92cm/36” W x 63cm/25” H)

• Suitable for use in open ground or in Link-a-Bord raised beds
• Cover with your choice of netting – the popular choices are the 2.6m wide Heavy-Duty Polythene (GDN-046) and Insect-Mesh Netting (GNE-036) in 2.1m wide form
• When calculating the length of netting you require, add 2m to your bed length to allow for the height of the hoops
• Use ground pegs or cling-on clips and bungees to secure your netting

  MEDIUM HOOPS ( 25mm dia. x 108cm/42” W x 104cm/41” H)

• Ideal for creating a protected growing area in our Timber Raised Beds or in open soil
• Use 2.6m wide Heavy-Duty Polythene (GDN-046) to create a tunnel for early and late season growing, or use the 2.6m wide Insect-Mesh Netting (GNE-038) to keep out pests
• Add 3m to the length of your bed when working out the quantity of netting required – this allows for the height of the hoops and leaves enough netting to cover the ends of the bed
• Ground pegs, cling-on clips and bungees and net clips are all suitable for fixing your netting in place with these hoops

  LARGE HOOPS (25mm dia. x 133cm/52” W x 102cm/40” H)

• Use in large open beds to create a large growing tunnel or cloche
• 3.1m wide Heavy-Duty Polythene (GDN-047) and Insect-Mesh Netting (3m wide; GNE-040) are ideal for creating a protected environment
• Again, add 3m to the length of your bed when working out the quantity of netting required – this allows for the height of the hoops and leaves enough netting to cover the ends of the bed
