Remove slugs and snails effectively using this simple trap by the use of beer or our slug and snail trapper bait (see below). The tight fitting lid prevents their escape, Slug X is chemical free, environmentally friendly and can easily be moved to anywhere in the garden.
These rainproof blue pellets are attractive to slugs and contain a naturally occurring active ingredient - ferric phosphate - which, when consumed, cause the slug to stop feeding. The pellets are eventually returned to the soil after being broken down by micro organisms (into iron and phosphate) and remain effective after rainfall.
• Safe to use on edible and non-edible plants • Apply at 5g per square metre • Maximum of 4 applications per area per season • Children and pets need not be excluded from area treated • 750g container • Rain not a problem - slugs prefer moist granules • Slugs die under the soil or in secluded location so no corpses to collect
What the experts say...
Slug it Out! This month’s warmer temperatures and spring rains means that slugs and snails will begin to reappear in your garden ready to devour any new growth on your plants. If you’re plagued by the slimy critters, then you may want to resort to slug pellets. Ensure you use an organically approved variety that won’t harm wildlife, like Growing Success Advanced Slug Killer from Harrod Horticultural. The pellets absorb water to attract slugs and once they’ve done their job, they transform into iron and phosphate to help enrich your soil. Your Home magazine, April 2009

"Conclusion: Once you've got past the fiddle of laying and planting through this material, it performed best out of all our bought-in trials, and was the only one to provide perfect protection". 9/10 Grow Your Own magazine, August 2008
"This fabric, called Tex-R, has been impregnated on one side with copper, which the makers say slugs and snails hate and either won't attempt to cross or just sit on it. You can snip it to size to form a barrier under pots and around individual plants, or cut slits to plant in a row. I liked the fact that this barrier is reusable and is not affected by weather. As well as deterring slugs, it retains moisture, has insulating properties and keeps weeds at bay - so it has a lot going for it and is great value. Also available in rolls up to 16ft x 2ft 9in (5m x 90cm) or as pot mats. Remember if it's plants in pots you want to protect, you have to ensure your pots are completely slug-free first, removing any eggs from beneath the surface of the compost."
