Lightbounds,
Staffordshire
Sometimes there’s nothing like seeing garden products in situ
to really appreciate what they can add to your own garden
plans. It’s one of the reasons why we have supported a
variety of gardens belonging to the National Garden
Scheme by supplying them with products to display and
use. This gives our customers up and down the country an
opportunity to have a close-up view of products such as fruit and vegetable cages and raised beds before they buy.

Lightbounds Open Days 2010 Update
We're delighted to report that the Lightbounds Open Days
on June 13th and a week later on the 20th were a resounding
success, with 355 visitors admiring the garden over the two days.
More importantly, the Open Days raised over £2200 for National
Gardens Scheme charities, predominantly those involved with nursing
and cancer care.
Currently on
display at Lightbounds are:
Heavy Duty Steel Fruit Cage -
GDN-100
Regarded by many as the ultimate form of crop protection,
these heavy duty walk-in fruit cages are manufacrtured from
steel sections and are pre-galvanised and powder coated in black to
create a cage which is sure to last. The framework carries a 10
year structural guarantee and the cage at Lightbounds gives
visitors the opportunity to examine both the frame and the
quality of the side and roof netting in great
detail.
The cage on display measures 4m x 3.5m in size and is
fitted with both corner and mid braces, along with a door kit
(supplied complete with the cage but also available as an
additional extra).
Pea and Bean Hoops and Cross
Supports - GDN-387
A very popular form of supporting an equally feted and widely
grown garden vegetable, the Pea and Bean Cross Supports are
available in three versatile sizes. The 3.6m long framework is
ideal for gardeners who enjoy the unique taste of
home-grown peas and beans on a larger scale, whilst both
the 2.29m and 1.07m long versions are designed to fit inside 6ft
and 4ft long raised beds respectively. The frame at
Lightbounds allows you to inspect the heavy duty steel
construction at first hand.
Pean and Bean Netting - GDN-025
Any gardener will know that peas and
beans provided with a good quality netting will race away skywards
and reward you with bumper legume yields. Our Pea and Bean Netting
fits that criteria and at Lightbounds, you'll be able to get a real
feel for this popular and durable netting - and it's an opportune
moment to remind you that samples of all netting in our range are
readily available. Just contact our Customer Services Team for full details
and to request a sample.
Aluminium Strawberry Cages -
GDN-170
Frustating doesn't really do justice to gardeners who have raised a
wondeful crop of juicy strawberries, only to see them gobbled up by
opportune birds just before they ripen! In the interests of keeping
gardeners from experiencing this strawberry shock, we've developed
a low level strawberry cage based on the tried and tested Build-a-Ball and Aluminium Tubing combination, along with the
proven Anti-Bird Netting. The 45cm high frames are
available in a number of sizes and can be quickly
erected to cover the ripening crop, and we've even included
ground pegs in these popular kits. See the results for yourself at
Lightbounds where two cages are on
display.
Bamboo Cloches -
GDN-881
The Lightbounds deer and rabbit poopualtion are dismayed that the
three sizes of Bamboo Cloches are used in the garden; these woven,
sustainable bamboo domes (available in three handy sizes) form a
barrier to larger grazing mammals as well as offering a degree of
protection from wind-chill, light frosts and birds. We don't supply
ground pegs with the cloches but these are
readily available separately.
Rhubarb Forcers - GDN-447
You can put money on part of the Lightbounds rhubarb crop
being sweet, tender and earlier than usual thanks to the
contribution made by the Terracotta Rhurbarb Forcer - and as this
attractive, traditional forcer has been freeze and thaw tested down
to -15 degrees C, you'll know it can withstand the worst of the
Staffordshire winter weather. There are two Terracotta Rhubarb
Forcers for you to admire in the garden but we can't promise you
can sample the rhubarb as well!
