Maxi-Fleece Frost Covers
Maxi-Fleece Frost Covers
It's not always possible to bring frost susceptible non-hardy potted plants inside for the winter and if that's the case, then you'll need the help of the Maxi-Fleece Frost Covers to fight off biting winter winds and frost.

This frost-busting trio - Mid, Large and Jumbo - of fleece jackets simply slip over your pot to give the plant protection right down to a positively arctic -8°C and the incredibly tough 100gsm fleece also allows air and light to penetrate, creating a protective micro climate inside. Three zippers, the extra security of a drawstring and a heavy duty polythene wipe-clean base give the Maxi Fleece Frost Covers the edge over rival winter fleece jackets and with the all-in-one 'plant coat' also covering the pot - frozen roots are one of the major causes of plant death - these three plant frost covers will help your plants through the harshest of winters.

Our Daily Express-published horticulturist and photographer Martin Fiddes says;"If you can't move non-hardy potted and container grown plants inside for the winter then a fleece cover or jacket is the next best thing. Try to find a fleece jacket with a zip as this makes covering up the plant quick and easy and it's advisable to remove any fleece or other protective material from the plant periodically throughout the winter as this will help to prevent a build up of humidity, which of course can encourage rots and other diseases to develop.
It’s also important to keep your plants moist throughout the winter to prevent the root ball from drying out – but moist is as wet as they should be allowed to get. If the plants do suffer some frost damage (leaf tips turn brown and wither) then some remedial spring pruning usually solves the problem and they should soon recover.
Keeping the pot protected is often overlooked but although plants can recover from the odd frost damaged leaf, frozen roots usually spells the end! Wrap pots in bubble insulation or go for an all-in-one plant jacket which also covers the pot."
