Create the 1.2m high vegetable cage by simply slotting the long lasting, non-rusting 16mm diameter aluminium tubing framework into the hi-tech matt black superior nylon plastic slot and lock connectors before easing a soft knitted 7mm mesh butterfly netting cover over the top, pegging it securely in the soil (pegs not supplied but our ground pegs fit the bill perfectly!).
These covers are a perfect fit - a real time saver for accessing or closing up the plot and they look incredibly neat too. The butterfly net cover is complete with stitched seams, making it easy to pull on and off the frame as one piece.
The Aluminium Vegetable Cage Kits with Fitted Butterfly Net Covers are available in three sizes and have been designed to fit inside our Timber Raised Beds - you’ll find the bed sizes listed below - but there’s no reason why the vegetable cage kits and fitted covers can’t be used in open ground too.

I have bought 3 'slot & lock' cages in the past month and am delighted with the quality of the product and the ease of construction. Inserting the 2 zips I bought for one of the cage nettings was quite a challenge but I managed in the end.! Soft fruit now protected just as it begins to ripen.
I needed more frames and covers for some additional raised beds. I’ve been using the frames for several years and find them easy to put together by myself and to fit over the cover. I agree access isn’t so easy as with the very fine mesh covers that have Velcro closings at the corners, but I manage to easily crop strawberries from a 4’x8’ bed. I’ve found if the frame is pushed well down the nets stay in place with minimal pegging despite the weather in NE Scotland. My only complaint is the excessive transport costs because I’m punished for living 40 miles from Aberdeen.
Already had the hooped net system on another raised based and wanted to get another to give my autumn/ winter veggies a chance against the dreaded cabbage whites! This net is great, much taller so my kale and broccoli should do much better - well fingers crossed!
