Herons aren't usually welcome visitors to the garden - especially if you have a well stocked fish pond - but the Organic Heron Plum Trees will prove a popular addition to your orchard or garden fruit growing area.

Bred on the famous Rivers Nursery in Hertfordshire, Heron plum trees produce large, long oval shaped fruit ready for harvesting in August; cropping is reliable and as Heron falls into pollination group B, you'll need a variety from groups A, B or C to ensure these August harvested plums are in plentiful supply.

Organic Heron plum trees are raised on moderately vigorous St Julien A rootstocks and the fruit is purple skinned with a greenish yellow flesh.

Organic Heron Plum Trees are despatched in bare-root form between November and March.

Planting
-
do not attempt to plant your fruit trees when the ground is frozen or waterlogged. The trees can be stored in their packaging in an outbuilding or garage for 2-3 days, or can be heeled into the soil where the ground is not as frozen. Alternatively, plant up in large pots or containers and ensure the roots have good contact with the soil.
