A campaign to save and protect our gardens has been launched as 'Garden Grabbing' becomes more popular with developers, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The 'Save our Gardens' initiative has been launched by MP's from both the leading political parties and is supported by leading horticultural organisation Garden Organic, formerly the HDRA. http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/
The main thrust of the campaign is to reclassify gardens so they are not regarded as brownfield sites, which the government want to use for 60% of new developments. The statistics published by instigating Tory MP Greg Clark are quite shocking; it's estimated that areas of lawn, borders and flower beds in general to the equivalent of 2,755 Wenbley football pitches will be completely lost in the next 9 years.
