A top advisor at flagship gardening organisation the Royal Horticultural Society http://www.rhs.org.uk/ has claimed that global warming is rendering reference books out of date.

The controversial statement, which includes work by gardening legend Geoff Hamilton, takes into account the effects of continual climate change on plants and how growing techniques and habits are changing.

It's a subject that will influence the way we all grow crops in the future, and throws up many factors worthy of consideration - even down to growing new plants which would previously not stand a chance in our climate.

There's already a great regional variation in the temperatures across the UK, with the north of Scotland reckoned to be up to 8 weeks behind Devon and Cornwall, and it's clear at this early juncture that we'll need to adapt to climate change at some stage.
