Henry Doubleday Research Association

Yet another set of famous horticultural initials, the HDRA carries the working name of Garden Organic. The organisation is a registered charity, and Europe's largest organic membership association. It is dedicated to researching and promoting organic gardening, farming and food and was formed way back in 1954 by Lawrence Hills.

The HDRA website has many fascinating features including information on the three main gardens (Ryton in Warwickshire, Yalding in Kent and Audley End, Essex), monthly jobs for the garden and informative factsheets on pests and diseases. This is just scraping the surface - visit the HDRA website for yourself at;
