5 Ash Bucket By Anonymous 12th December 2011

This ash bucket is lovely, looks great and does what it is supposed to do. My only comlaint is that the handle obstructs the lid from being removed and replaced. I am not sure if it is a safety feature, but it could be better designed.

Our Daily Express-published horticulturist, photographer and Master Composter Martin Fiddes says; "Don't forget to add small amounts of any wood ash you remove from your fire to the compost heap as it's a great source of potassium and other plant nutrients.

"You can also add wood ash to the garden soil in winter and fork it in well but don't add ash derived from a coal fire or from burning briquettes as it could well contain chemicals and impurities."
