• Cones have three screw threads to accept most 0.5 to 2 litre bottles
• Water seeps through microporous ceramic at a rate of 500ml per day

• Choose the right screw pitch for the bottle selected
• Fill the bottle
• Screw the cone to the bottle by using the screw top selected
• Turn the bottle over and bore a small hole in the base of the bottle as an air vent is essential (heat a pin to make the hole more easily)
• Check the assembly for leaks - you should not be able to see any water droplets on the screw threads
• The only water emerging from the bottle must come through the wall of the cone
• Tighten the screw-in stopper if necessary
• Plant the point of the cone vertically in the compost in the pot up to the level of the adapter
