• Sloping lid allows maximum sunlight and also provides rain runoff
• Flat packed for home assembly
• Two easily adjustable, fully removable lid panels for variable ventilation and easy access from both sides, which are also held securely when closed
• Impressive growing area of 1.13sq. metres (12.16 sq. ft)
• Rust proof components – needs no maintenance – guaranteed for 10 years
• Weather tight reducing heat loss
• Ground fixings not included

Notes on assembly
• Once the main body of the Coldframe is assembled it is best to anchor it in place so movement of the coldframe is limited making it easier to locate the lids
• Locating each lid is best done by holding it vertically & hooking it up & into the rebate on the Ridge section. It will be difficult to locate the lid if it is not presented vertically.
• Place one hand underneath & pushing the lid up into the rebate is also helpful.
• The lids need to be able to come off easily so that seed trays can be fully open to good weather.
• The locking arms will prevent the lids coming off.

What The Experts Say...
• "...a clear winner was thrown up in the polycarbonate cold frame from Harrod Horticultural...this model is mainly constructed from tough polypropylene, which is not only virtually unbreakable but also lowers the cost. The lid panels on either side can be secured against strong winds, are easily opened and can be completely removed when necessary. This frame covers a large space but still offers good access to the central area." Mike Woolnough, Grow it! magazine, February 2009

Professional tips for using a cold frame:

Know your area climate - it is important to plan your vegetable and plant varieties according to your local environment.

Stretch the calendar  - light soil warms up faster than heavier soil.  Warm the soil by adding organic matter to heavy soil in order to lighten it.

Beat the heat – Summer can have an intense heat that dries out plants.  In order to avoid this, cool the soil with a mulch of compost straw or other organic materials on sunken beds to retain the moisture.  Another way is to provide shade.

Fight frost – in short season with the frost the simplest thing is to provide the coverings for the plants in order to keep them warm.  Just remember to remove the covering on hot sunny days to prevent the plants from overheating and drying out.
