The Tropic Electric Fan Heater is a rigid plastic cased electric fan heater that is sufficient to heat a greenhouse measuring up to 2 1/2m x 3m (8' x 10') - the heater has two thermostats for summer and winter use and two settings of 1kW and 2kW.
• The internal fan helps to circulate the warm air quickly and efficiently around the greenhouse. • The fan can also be used without the heating element to circulate air and cool the greenhouse in the summer. • The unit measures 30cm H x 22cm W x 13cm D and has a 129cm long lead. • The thermostat can be set on frost watch setting to keep your greenhouse frost free
Our Daily Express-published horticulturist and photographer Martin Fiddes says;"A greenhouse heater is essential if you want to make use of the structure all year round and an electric heater is the cleanest and most economic way of keepng your greenhouse above freezing. A warm winter greenhouse will allow you to protect tender plants, get a head start with vegetable seed sowing, take and keep softwood and leafy cuttings and start off your hardy ornamental annuals that much earlier - and by using bubble insulation, you can use a heater to create a mini hothouse section in your greenhouse as well as slashing heating costs. The summer fan-only setting will reduce humidity and prevent common fungal plant diseases like botrytis, helping you maintain a healthy greenhouse all year round".
We've found these Bayliss Automatic Greenhouse Vent Openers to be the best on the market and are suitable vents for both wooden or aluminum grenhouse windows and frames.
With the two of the most important aspects of successful greenhouse growing being adequate ventilation and preventing excessive temperatures, the Bayliss XL Greenhouse Autovents are invaluable as they react to changes in greenhouse temperature and open and close vents accordingly . Please note that although the Bayliss XL Autovent will fit the vast majority of greenhouses, some models of Halls and Robinsons may require additional fixings. We also recommend the Bayliss MK7 Autovent for use on any Alton greenhouse structure.
• Bayliss XL Autovent can be simply clamped onto aluminium greenhouses without any drilling • Alternatively, bolt on using existing holes or drilled holes • Bayliss XL Greenhouse Autovent is 28cm long and will lift a vent weighing up to 5.5kg, or a vent approximately 61cm x 76cm (24" x 30") • Opens approx 30cm • Supplier offers 2 year guarantee on replacement cylinders but they should last approximately 6-10 years • Additional fixings (not supplied) may be required for fitting to some Halls and Robinsons models
What The Experts Say...
"If you haven't already got automatic openers installed for your greenhouse windows, fit some straight away. Automatic openers work by wax within their cylinder expanding when it's hot, pushing a piston to open the window and contracting in cooler temperatures to close the window again. Worth the investment to free yourself from being controlled by the vagaries of British weather - no more trips to the greenhouse to open and close windows manually every time the weather changes!" This Louvre Window Kit consists of the operating components for a six-bladed louvre, complete with all the fixings required for fitting to an aluminium greenhouse. A Louvre Window placed low in the sides or end of any greenhouse will help improve airflow and aid summer ventilation; both desirable traits when growing in a greenhouse.
Increased airflow will help keep humidity levels down and avoid the conditions that certain fungal diseases - such as botrytis - enjoy, and the adjustable cooling effect of the louvre window in the summer will be welcomed by plants and gardeners alike. Glass blades for the Louvre Window Kit are not supplied, but the pane you will have to remove to fit the unit can be cut to minimise waste. Glass panes are also available from glass merchants or glaziers who will usually cut the glass into slats to fit the kit. The Louvre Window Kit replaces a 61cm (24") square pane.
• Louvre Window Kit fits almost all aluminium greenhouses • Glass blades not included • Remove a 61cm (24") square pane to fit • Pane of glass removed for fitting can be cut to fit louvre blades, minimising waste • 4mm polycarbonate also suited as glazing material • Additional glass available from glass merchants or glaziers • Ideal form of summer ventilation • 6 blades • Fully adjustable • Best fitted at ground level in ends or sides of greenhouse • Helps reduce humidity • Blades direct cool air up into greenhouse allowing warm air to escape through roof vents • Not compatible with Robinson greenhouses • Fit our Louvre Window Opener for fully automated operation
