CompostAir might sound like a budget airline but the only thing likely to be flying with this innovative composting system is your garden waste, turned into nutrient rich compost with little effort. Although we can't promise compost at the speed of sound, the simple but highly effective ‘egg box’ cone wall of the CompostAir allows air - an essential element to quick odourless composting - through the tip of every cone. The breather tube that runs through the centre of the bin at the base allows air into the heart of the pile to lessen the need for turning and as this novel bin is supplied in a roll, allowing you to adjust to a size that suits, it’s perfect for rolling up to store after use. We recommend optional lids as they are key to regulating moisture in your heap, making the bacteria work even harder for quicker compost.
CompostAir • The ideal solution for quick odourless composting with little need for turning and like the name suggests, it’s all because of the availability of air • Air is available right around the heap through all the holes in the wall and through the middle of the heap, right from the bottom because of the unique Air Tube • Also now available with a specially designed cover • A neat and tidy bin with adjustable diameter for any garden size • Available in 300 litre and 500 litre sizes • Fast and easy to assemble • Light weight, strong and rolls up for easy storage • Optional lids also available
Now to make Compost: • Add a layer of browns to form a well aerated layer at the bottom • Then add a layer of greens ad mix lightly • After that shred/chip and mix the browns with the greens when adding layers. • Add any micro-organisms to speed up the process • Once the CompostAir is full secure the cover in place but check regularly • Control the moisture content and add water if necessary • It is important to maintain the air flow so check the Air Tube supplied and occasionally the moisture level around the outside of your CompostAir • Too much air and the material dries out while too little and it becomes wet and soggy or anaerobic
And what should we get? • The end product should be moist but crumbly with a sweet smell just like a forest soil • It should be free of weed seeds although this is harder to achieve with small quantities of material being composted at any one time • It should contain macro and micro nutrients beneficial to plant growth as well as various trace minerals • Composts are fantastic for improving soil structure and help soil to retain water • The greater the variety of materials used in the making of your compost the greater the provision of nutrients will be in the end product - compost.
