Greenhouse Propagators - a greenhouse propagator is a must-have piece of gardening equipment if you intend to make the utmost use of your greenhouse and extend your growing season to almost a 365 days a year operation. Propagators come in many varied shapes and sizes but all are designed to create a warm micro-climate ideal for germinating seeds. As with anything in life, you get what you pay for, and propagators are no different; there's the budget range of unheated models - just perfect for a windowsill or sunny location - dig a little deeper into your pocket for the heated base version, all of which will raise the ambient temperature of the compost and well suited to a heated greenhouse; or go large with the thermostatically controlled, unerringly accurate self-contained units which generate the bottom heat essential for successful germination and also provide an area to grow on your seedlings in safety.
And if you're of the DIY persuasion, you can always construct your own custom-made propagation bench with a little bit of know-how and a set of our soil warming cables; if space is limited we've heat mats and pads; there's a range of thermometers to accurately record the temperature of your seed compost; individual pots with vented lids and much, much more! |

Greenhouse Seed Sowing - sowing seed in the greenhouse or directly into a bed outside is the archetypal image of gardening, and getting things right at this initial stage of growing will (hopefully) bring big results at harvest time. We realise the importance of giving your seeds the best possible start in life, and with a few years experience of running a bountiful Kitchen Garden, we think we're in a good position to know what's hot and what's not in the world of seed sowing. Taking it in no particular order, we've sourced traditional seed trays, organic seeds, seed sowers (capable of sowing the tiniest of seeds individually), small and very useful dibbers, thermometers, module trays - the list goes on! Our advice is to delve into the cornucopia of seed sowing equipment we've collated, and we'll be genuinely surprised if you can't find anything to seriously improve your seed sowing activities and germination rates! |
