| Fungus Fly |
Fungus Fly - also known as the Fungus Gnat or Sciarid Fly, the larvae of these tiny flies can do untold damage to young seedlings by feeding on new roots and providing an opening for disease and fungi to take hold. Plants in seedlings and polythene tunnels are equally at risk and if you enjoy raising your fruit, vegetables and ornamentals from seed, you'll need to take action against this minute pest.
Preventing clouds of adult flies building up - and they can take some responsibility for indirectly killing your seedlings as they spread fungal disease spores and plant viruses - is possibly thanks to our Natural Choice organic pest control products. We've got the tried and trusted sticky traps - guaranteed to trap adult flies and give you an idea of numbers present - along with the hard-hitting, nematode-based Fungus Fly Killer which dine out on the tiny larvae and break the lifecycle. Long live your seedlings!

Mighty Mite |
£9.95
Mighty Mite is a real greenhouse, compost heap and even chicken coup superhero, ridding your garden soil of bad guys such as small vine weevil larvae, cutworms, fungus gnats (aka sciarid flies), springtails, caterpillars and the maggots of many pesky flies too!
Mighty Mite's alter-ego is Phoretic mite, a ravenous soil-dwelling predatory mite which reproduces rapidly and feeds on the above menu, making it an ideal natural ally for gardeners. Mighty mite will happily devour sciarid fly larvae in greenhouse compost and soil; it's happy to live in beds and borders outside and will also help rid the compost heap of springtails and fly maggots - and when the compost is spread around the garden, Mighty Mite goes too!
