If you plan to erect your aluminium cage on a site that regularly experiences high winds, and / or if the soil condition is light and sandy, we recommend the addition of braces to give your cage extra rigidity. One brace kit, which will work on either a corner upright or a side upright, contains two aluminium struts and all the fittings required. The brace can be fitted after assembly of the main framework or retro fitted to an existing cage. Cages up to 6m (19’6’’) x6m (19’6’’) will require braces at the corners only, for bigger cages (in any direction) we recommend that at least the middle upright is braced on the sides over 6m (19’6’’) of the cage.

The 25mm diameter aluminium fruit cage door frame is 970mm wide and is supplied complete with locking hinges, clip-on door catches and a separate door catch upright - Please note one aluminium fruit cage door kit is included in the cost of all our standard aluminium fruit cages.

A steel, zinc plated foot plate for the door hinging upright is supplied as standard with steel fruit cages, this plate ensures the hinging upright maintains position in softer conditions. For soft soil, extra foot plates for each upright can be supplied at an additional cost.
